In two decades of Fort Lauderdale home sales and real estate experience, my clients have discovered one maxim is true: “Teamwork makes the dream work.” Any successful Realtor knows listings, marketing, sales and closings are a shared endeavor.
In this video, I discuss the evolution of the Fort Lauderdale real estate sector. Much of my 18 years in real estate, including as a trainer and mentor to fellow agents, has operated this way. Then Covid came and only highlighted the importance of the collaborative enterprise.
In fact, you can almost divide South Florida real estate into two periods: pre-COVID and post-COVID. Before the pandemic, we marketed home listings online and with social media. For that – then and now – I’ve relied on my videographer, social media and livestreaming consultant, Chetachi A. Egwu, Ph.D.; my copywriter, Jeff Zbar; my photographer, Bobbi Smith; and Robin Pearlman Rodriguez and Fernando Ortiz, supporting buyer agents with whom I refer deals back and forth.
But since the pandemic, everything’s changed. I still rely on those professionals. But now fellow agents, home inspectors, contractors, mortgage brokers, real estate attorneys and a host of others have turned to virtual and digital transactions to close simple to complex deals.
For entrepreneurs, the lesson is clear. Once we become successful enough to support ourselves, we have to leverage those networks to build our traffic flow. It’s the same for any sector, you work with others who can elevate your efforts and brand and drive success for the client.
Even smart fellow realtors who we might otherwise see as competition know that collaboration outweighs competition. We help our clients price their homes for sale, then stage, photograph and video them in the best light, then market them through an efficient contracting process and ultimately, a successful closing.
Working together, we approach each deal as a shared endeavor, something that will only get to the finish line if we are pushing or pulling as one. As one, we are better.
Realtors doing quality work will always survive. Whomever you choose to work with, demand no less than a well-trained and committed professional.
